New Party Conference At Southern Manitoba Rock Lake Camp
A New Party conference for Southern Manitoba will be held at the United Church Camp at Rock Lake on Thursday June 15 from 10 am to 5 pm. Registration at 10 am and a basket lunch at noon. Discussion leaders include Hon Olaf Turnbull Sam Goodman and Lloyd Stinson. All Manitoba CCF and New Party members and anyone interested are welcome. Sweet Clover Weevils have appeared in second year stands posing a risk to clover crops. If dry weather continues the pest could devastate new and established plantings. New fields should be sown away from existing stands or fields plowed last year. If not possible, chemical control may be needed with Hepta chlor and Dieldren. Granular chemical may be mixed with seed using grass or cyclone seeders. Apply 4 pounds of actual chemical per acre. Start chemical control at the first sign of crescent-shaped leaf damage.

Minister Warns Plastic Garbage Cans Fire Hazard
Hon. J. B. Carroll warns plastic garbage containers pose a definite fire hazard at home. Fire officials in Manitoba fear growing use of these containers and urge extreme caution to prevent fires from spontaneous combustion or embers. Metal cans smother flames. plastics can soften and spread fire. Minimum tips include concrete bases, distance from wooden structures, and careful disposal of paint cloths cigarettes and oily rags.

Weed control field day announced by local clubs
A chemical weed control field day will be held Friday June 9 at 1 30 p m on Rene Zeghers farm in Holland. Sponsored by the Holland Crop Improvement Club and the Manito ba Dept of Agriculture Mr John Hounden will discuss 24 D MCPA Dalapan and other chemicals. All interested are invited to attend for information on weed control.
