Seniors Independent Services Form Local Steering Group

A January public meeting produced a steering committee to establish a Seniors Independent Services program in Belmont Baldur Wawanesa Glenboro and the Rural Municipalities of Oakland South Cypress Argyle Strathcona plus the villages of Wawanesa and Glenboro. The plan seeks three part time coordinators funded by a provincial grant to arrange services for seniors and disabled residents including escort to appointments cleaning yard work laundry snow removal home repairs and friendly visits to help them stay in their homes.

Metcalf Named Tiger Hills Superintendent

The Tiger Hills School Division selects Doug Metcalf as superintendent effective July 1 1994. He is currently Glenboro School principal after a long tenure as Treherne Collegiate principal and earlier teaching work. Metcalf and his wife Pat live in Treherne with two married sons, Darin in Winnipeg and Marlin in McCreary.

Hall gains facelift for Glenboro hall and show plans

The Glenboro Community Development Corporation reports a facelift for the hall with stage floor redone ceiling painted and new carpet at under 700. The committee may postpone major additions to focus on maintenance amid few summer bookings. A weekly bingo is discussed. Donna and Leroy from the Tommy Hunter Show perform June 21 1994 at 8 pm with doors at 7 pm tickets 10 for adults 5 for students preschoolers free.
