Construction has begun on the new Village of Glenboro Maintenance Shed located on the south side of Railway Ave at Duncan Street intersection just west of the Water Tower. The shed will house patrol trucks tractor mowers and include a workshop area.
Arnold Johnston notes the Cypress River Agricultural Fair on July 17 18 drew strong support with over 530 memberships sold by Sunday afternoon. Baseball players admitted free, and community spirit underscored the long standing tradition and appeal of the fair. Ken Harpelle serves as president of the organizing body.
On July 8 the BGTW Shared Services Inc members met as Treherne village and Oakland RM wrote to Manitoba Health seeking exemption from budget cutbacks already felt over the years. A new incinerator site and size are under negotiation and renovations at Baldur Glenboro and Wawanesa hospitals are complete with Treherne oxygen and kitchen upgrades done. Wording notes a shift from LPNs to NAs under reform and a budget policy letter to Manitoba Health is requested. The Cypress River fair is praised as a community tradition with many volunteers and local exhibitors.
The Manitoba Great Western Harness Racing Circuit comes to Glenboro Saturday 5:00 pm and Sunday 1:30 pm August 7th and 8th. Brent Hill drives in the Sunday feature race and issues a challenge to fellow drivers amid local celebrity participation. Posters promote the event and a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning.
The Glenboro Gazette will not publish or print during the holiday period. The office including the Sears Office remains open as usual, and management and staff will take holiday time. Publication resumes in two weeks.
