Canadian Peace Time Nuclear Exercise Morning Star at Camp Gagetown

At Camp Gagetown Canada will run Exercise Morning Star from 25 July to 3 August with 10,500 soldiers of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division. The plan includes nuclear indicators and slit trenches with both sides simulating nuclear weapons under controlled conditions.

Colp Neufeld Vows Exchanged at Winkler Manitoba

Viola Mae Neufeld and Marvin Vernon Colp wed Sunday June 24 at M B Church Winkler Manitoba with Rev J H Quiring officiating. Attendants wore pink and white gowns. reception for 75 at the bride’s home featured floral decor and musical selections by Anne Betty and Esther Unger.

Glenboro Pioneer Mrs Lyall dies at 90

A large United Church congregation mourns Mrs. Wm Lyall 90 Glenboro pioneer who died July 16 in Glenboro Hospital. Born Acton Ontario 1866 she moved to Glenboro 1890 worked as a tailor in MacKays, married Wm Lyall in 1892. Survived by four sons Dave Ed John Wilfred and a Winnipeg daughter Carrie Irvine. Funeral services held with pallbearers named.

Fire Destroys Barn on Dolph Sampson Farm Near Glenboro

An early Friday blaze destroyed a barn on Dolph Sampson’s farm eight miles south and west of Glenboro. Fire fighters from Glenboro and neighbors battled the flames but could only prevent spread to nearby buildings. Out‑of‑town guests came from Killarney, Plum Coulee, Brandon, St. James and Lloydminster, Alta.

Holland 4-H Rally Draws 500 Members in Holland Exhibition

More than 300 4-H club members from 22 clubs took part in the Holland and Baldu Agricultural Representativ e areas rally during the Holland annual exhibition on June 17. Gayle McLachlan and Marcel Timmerman won gold watches as Grand Aggregate judges. Patsy Dodds was named Queen of the Rally with attendants Marion Lang and Betty Ann Lang.
