Carberry Calf Tops 4 H Show Grand Champion

The 1160 lb Beautiful Blonde raised by Bette Lintott of the Carberry Combines 4 H Club won Grand Champion over 25 steers on July 8. Lloyd Lintott raised a 1110 lb Charolais that captured Reserve Grand Champion and sold to Brandon Co-Op for 50c per lb. Other results include champions in dairy and junior show categories and a strong field of local buyers and sponsors across Carberry, Glenboro and surrounding areas.

Glenboro Cypress Fair Set For July 22 and 23

The 10th Glenboro Cypress Agricultural Fair will run Thursday and Friday July 22 and 23 in Glenboro. Hall exhibits must be in by 10 a.m. Thursday for judging, cattle and horses on-site Friday morning. MP Jack Marta will attend Friday with pancake breakfast and Little League Baseball planned on the grounds.

Autopac Office to be Built in Brandon

Autopac will be housed in a new building at First Street near College Avenue in Brandon. The centre will handle about 20 000 claims annually and include the Claims Centre office area Brandon Salvage functions and meeting spaces. Completion is expected in spring 1978.

Canucks struggle with 1 win in 3 games

Glenboro intermediates see a rough week with a 7-1 loss to Carberry Royals, a 9-2 win over MacGregor Cubs, and a 3-2 defeat to Austin in the MacGregor tournament. Gerald Barr led Glenboro with key hits and a complete game win. Warren Oliver, Ken Vertz, and Lyle Nelson starred for opponents. The club eyes a home game vs Carberry and Notre Dame tournament play, amid talk of what's wrong with the Canucks.

Calf Show Winners Highlight Glenboro 4-H Fair

At Carberry Fair on July 8 members of Glenboro Agriculture Club showcased eight beef calves and four dairy calves. Bob Thompson won Beef Champion with Ron Jefferies as Reserve. Shirley Watt won Dairy Champion with Linda Watt as Reserve. The top beef showmen were Bob Thompson Kim Steele Jim Steele and Cam Hamilton. The 2 best groomed shows end incomplete.

Canada North Museum Touts Calf Show Results in Glenboro

The Glenboro event on July 22 and 23 highlighted 4-H dairy and inter club contests. Linda Watt won best groomed in Dairy with Donald Watt second. Linda also topped Dairy showmanship while Ken Dowd claimed junior showmanship and Reserve Champion. Ron Jefferies won Inter-Club Best Groomed calf. Glen Rogers and Dowd placed in Rate of Gain. Club members and supporters express thanks and invite new members as summer ends.

South Cypress Sees 1976 Municipal Tax Increase

The R. M. of South Cypress plans a 13 mill average tax rise for 1976 with school rate up 7.7 mills for residential and farm levy and 8.4 mills for commercial across four divisions. General municipal rate up 6 mills due to equipment costs. Hospital over-expenditure levies adjust with 0.2 mill drop and 0.8 mill addition. A full mill-rate statement will accompany the 1976 tax bill.

Glenboro 4-H Light Horse and Pony Club Report

The Glenboro 4-H Light Horse and Pony Club describes a busy June with a march at the Carberry rally on June 12, showing at Brandon Fair on June 19, and a trail ride on June 26. Members earned ribbons and thanks are given to the Trew and Penner families for supper and shelter. the club achievement is set for August 15 at the Trews.
