Harness racing hits Glenboro this weekend for Great Western Circuit
Standardbred racing on the Manitoba Great Western Harness Racing Circuit comes to Glenboro July 13 and 14 with races at 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 30 p.m. Sunday. Nine races each day feature the Manitoba Great Western Stake on Saturday with seventeen 3 year olds from Alberta Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Elimination heats trim fields to final with two 6 horse heats and one 5 horse heat. One Alberta entrant is quoted with a 1 55 mark. Half of gate receipts go to the Glenboro Area Foundation. Pari mutuel betting and food concessions on site. Race meet sponsored by Glenboro Turf Club.

Wawanesa Mutual Turns a Century of Community Pride
On July 6 a crowd of about two thousand gathered in Wawanesa to celebrate the 100th birthday of Wawanesa Mutual. Highlights included a pancake breakfast, a Soap Box Derby, a parade, free town tours, and exhibits of an antique firetruck and threshing machine.

Cross Canada cyclists stay night with Cypress River family
Two American cyclists Margaret Hackman and Sherri Kasten from Vermont stopped at Stan and Ruth Berry's farm northwest of Cypress River on July 2. They are biking across Canada to raise funds for the Vermont Food Bank and Vermont Children's Forum, traveling from Vancouver Island to the Atlantic Ocean and collecting salt water samples along the way.
