First Council Meeting of 1919 Debates By-Law Annexation

The January 1919 council session heard a request for 500 dollars for Navy League funds, approved after discussion. An annexation by-law to enlarge the district sparked lively debate with Fairtalley representatives arguing their claim. Landowners protested the taking, while officials spoke against annexation. The by-law passed its first and second readings amid concerns the school tax burden would hit ratepayers due to limited district size.
