The Tiger Hills and Pembina Valley School Divisions approved merging on February 17 with July 1 1998 as the official start. The new division may be named 50 though the name is not yet decided. A Board of Reference meeting is planned for March 26 to finalize structure.
Keith Moody and Tony Lee plan a remodel for Glenboro's Big Blue Hotel restaurant and invite the public to lend early 1900s pictures. Photos will be copied and returned. The owners aim to evoke country charm with images from Glenboro’s pioneer days for travelers and guests.
Sixteen to twelve grade students organized a two day event opening with Jacquie Lussier quotes. Rick Scott noted the 416 participants led by three students per sport including toboggan bobsled ball hockey and cross country skiing. They handled equipment officials and planning while teachers supervised as the event emphasized teamwork and goal setting.
Fifty delegates gathered at Glenboro United Church on February 17 for the Agassiz Presbytery. The day long session approved restructuring to an annual two day meeting in larger centers to cut travel costs, with new task forces replacing committees and overnight lodging required.
Treherne will host the 40th annual Tiger Hills Festival of the Arts during Festival Awareness Week February 15 to 21. Between March 23–27 and April 20–24 groups adjudicators and performers will visit for speech arts singing piano violin and dance competitions.
