Glenboro Curling Bonspiel Opens With 66 Rinks
The 44th annual bonspiel began at 11 30 a m Monday with curlers from many towns. Mayor Hamilton welcomed participants and Jas Gowanlock, president, opened the event by tossing the first rock. Eight sheets of ice are prepared and in excellent condition with caretakers McConnell and Bjaraason receiving praise.

Kristjana Sofia Backman 66, born 1863 in Husavik Iceland died February 14 1950 at Glenboro. She immigrated to Canada in 1886 and married Gudmundur Backman in 1898 at Glenboro. Survived by daughter Mrs Terry Johnson and two granddaughters. Funeral February 17 at Glenboro Lutheran Church.

Misses Daisy and Dorothy Smrling of Treherne attended the North-West Hall old time dance. The Glenboro rink with Mrs FE J Christie and others won a prize in Holland curling. Net proceeds from the old time dance totaled 14.72 dollars, contributing to a hospital debt fund total of 80.57 dollars.
