Glenboro Curling Spiel Opens With Close Entry Deadline
Glenboro's 44th Annual Spiel starts February 20 with entries closing at 11 p.m. on February 18. Cartmell wins the British Columbia curling championship in Rossland, earning a B C provincial berth for the Dominion championship in Vancouver. Cartmell’s Vancouver rink defeated A. M. Chesser 8-4 and 18-6 in a two match final that stretched to 7 a.m. CST. The team included T. Cobb C. Cook and Dave Garnham. Cartmell previously lost 15-6 to Chesser who finished the bonspiel with a 10-0 record. Cartmell’s rink was the Manitoba 1938 Canadian champion skip Ab Gowarlock Winnipeg.

A Manitoba meeting of Hospital Districts 16 and 19 in February addressed hospital services and future units. The resolution states that Districts 16 and 18 will not amalgamate, no District Hospital will be created in District 16, and District 19 will not proceed with a District Hospital. A Notre Dame de Lourdes meeting on February 18 will plan Medical Nursing Unit Areas with Glenboro Area assigned for the rest of District 16.

The Glenboro Theatre undergoes extensive improvements under Mr. Graham. New air cushioned seats with proper angle, hardwood arm rests, and enhanced spacing promise comfort. A larger beaded screen, better projector, advertising apparatus, portable PA system, and candy counter upgrade the experience, while program length increases by about 25 percent. Pipe Line Construction Notes From Inter-provincial Route
