Horse stolen from Sylvester Grobb recovered near Gladstone
The horse stolen from Sylvester Grobb of Portage la Prairie on September 16 1970 was recovered Monday by Detective McGuire about six miles from Gladstone after two sales. Grobb was notified Saturday and travelled with officers to the farm. A saddle stolen from Arnold Hill north Portage was also recovered. the suspect Smith alias Ralph Moore had worked there before the horse was taken.

Obituary of Thomas Preston Father of Mrs Cox
The Pilot Mound Sentinel notices the death of Thomas Preston at 86 years near Blenheim Ontario on January 25 at his daughter’s home. Born in Halton County Ontario in 1824, he helped clear western Ontario, ran a saw mill, moved to North Carolina, Manitoba, then Saskatchewan before returning to Ontario where an accident hastened his end. He married Jane Balmer in 1847 and left four survivors: Mrs. Wm Galloway Blenheim Sask Mrs. Wm Cox Pilot Mound and Thos R Kaleden BC. Burial was at Pilot Mound January 30 with pallbearers and Baptist service.
