The Glenboro Curling Club opens its 14th annual Bonspiel on Monday February in what organizers call the best event in club history. A schedule of events and prizes follows.
Local notes document Mr. Albert Carson shipping stock to the city last Tuesday and various residents traveling to Winnipeg or the city. A house fire near the town claims Arthur Thompson and family with minimal insurance. fire brigades could not reach it in time. Other items include civic events, club meetings, curling teams, and a call for news contributions.
Einar Thordarson of Antler Saskatchewan wed Jonina Gudmundsen of Gretboro at Rev C B Lawson's residence on February 12. A wedding lunch followed and the couple departed for Winnipeg to begin their honeymoon. They will reside at Antler where the groom owns a farm.
The ceremony took place at the Dowd home on February 13 with Rev. Clarke B. Lawson officiating. Margaret Dowd wed Llewellyn Livingston of Nesbitt, attended by Olive Wilton and Wm. Thompson. A breakfast followed before the couple departed for Winnipeg for two weeks, then will settle in Nesbitt.
The Commission of Conservation warns that coal supplies may be tighter next winter across Canada and the eastern United States. It urges Canadians to stock wood and households in cities to prepare, while farmers and villagers shoulder some responsibility.

Grand Challenge awards first prize Dennison Cup valued at 100 dollars and four gold watches valued at 60 dollars. Second prize includes four silver fruit dishes valued at 30 dollars. Tatro Patze receives four gold lockets valued at 16 dollars. Fourth prize lists four vacuum bottles valued at 10 dollars.
A shredded auction list details first prize blue ribbon cup valued at 75 dollars and four coat sweaters at 32. Additional prizes include four lawer tubes and four case pipes with varying values, four flash lights, four pairs of boots, manicure sets, auto gloves, bon bons, butter dishes, Peterson pipes, cigars, whip sets, and carvers donated by L. P. Brindle among others.
Five Glenboro rinks to play the world as the prize event proceeds. Winners advance by playing down through rounds and enjoy valued silver spoons totaling twelve dollars in prize value.
By the kindness of the ladies of the Red Cross the visiting curlers attended the Curling Club gathering on Wednesday evening at 9 30 in the L O C F Hall as guests of the club.
The first three events are open to all curlers whether affiliated or not. A fourth event or consolation is open to rinks that have not won any prize in prior competitions. Rules of the RCCC govern all games. Cups remain property of Glenboro Club. winning rink holds for a year with indemnity bond and fire insurance. Twelve ends per event. Entries for the first three events due by 1 pm Monday. First draw 2:30 pm Monday Feb 25. No two rinks from same club should face each other in the first draw if possible. A HAMES, President. The Manitoba Winter Fair runs March 4 to 8 with 16000 in prizes across horses cattle sheep swine and poultry. Domestic Science features prominently with 1125 offered for the Boys Fat Calf contest. Bull sale on March 5 followed by swine sale pure bred horse sale and grade horse sale. entries close February 23. Secretary W I Smale Brandon Man.
After a successful sale Sigmar Bros offers remaining items at reduced prices. Clover Seafeen and Saucers, prunes, coats, gloves, caps and aprons are discounted. Sleighs, table remnants, and various clothing pieces show marked markdowns with several items priced for quick sale. Limited quantities noted.
