Patricia Trophy winners announced February 10 with Lloyd Coates Ken Barr Allan Coates and Dennis Wytinck taking the Club play Trophy over Cliff Cullen in the first half.
The Village of Glenboro council approved moving forward with the Main Street Manitoba Program at the February 4 meeting. They also asked Manitoba Hydro to supply a firm street lighting price for the program area.

Kevin MacGillivray left Winnipeg for Assiniboine CC to become a journeyman electrician now with Trans West Electric in Edmonton. Marion McKay, BN, moved from Treherne to nursing in Manitoba and Winnipeg. Robbie Hallgrimson farms near Cypress River with wife Susan Bosman. Lisa Collins, BSc LL B, practices law with Aitkens MacAulay Thorvaldson in Winnipeg and plans marriage in April 1986.
Manitoba election set for March 18 with campaigns underway. Community notices urge Heart Month support, noting heart disease remains a leading killer and stressing donations to heart and stroke research. A March 1 cartooning workshop at Treherne Elementary School, led by Bill Reid, costs 12 dollars with registration via Tiger Hills Arts Association.
The 80th annual Men's Open Bonspiel runs Wednesday to Sunday February 12 to 16 with 32 entries from Wawanesa Cypress River Baldur Ninette Winnipeg and Glenboro. Friday banquet night gives curlers a meal fellowship and calcutta for the rinks while district church ladies provide lunches for participants and spectators.
Fifty skiers from Winnipeg Crane River Spruce Woods Pinawa and The Pas competed in the 5.1 km Cree loop of the Yellow Quill Trail in frigid weather. Cold conditions shortened the race to 10 km for the Loppet and 5 km for Touring. Paul Marko, David Lawler, Carol Randall and Paul Krepps won their classes. Organizers credited Tom and Jo Beveridge and others for a successful event with park staff and volunteers.
Agriculture Minister Bill Uruski announced an 8 percent interest rate for M A C C loans for the current fiscal year, down from 12 percent, costing Manitoba 6.2 million and aiding up to 3,400 farmers. The rebate applies to regular and young farmer loans, with rebates deducted from earned rebates.
