Carroll Rink Wins Ladies Bonspiel at Glenboro
The Iris Carroll rink defeated Susan Dowd to win the John Thomson Memorial Trophy in the First Event of the annual Ladies Bonspiel in Glenboro on February 4. Teams from Glenboro Wawanesa and Winnipeg placed in wheels of honors. Thirty six rinks entered across three events with a banquet and auction selling for 630 dollars.

Wildlife Association Dinner Honors Members and Winners
Cypress River Wildlife Association and Cypress River Junior Rifle Club held a February 3 banquet in the Cypress River Memorial Hall with about 200 attendees. Maurice Sveinson chaired the roast dinner program, presenting guests and awarding trophies for deer, waterfowl, and junior rifle achievements plus top shooters and head trophies.

Moffat Tops At Wawanesa Bonspiel Final
Brian Moffat of Brandon won the second half of the Wawanesa Men's Open Bonspiel held February 1 to 4 defeating Allan Fleming of Wawanesa in the E Bain Jackson Sons event with Wayne Blair as semi finalist. Ed Granger of Brandon won the Allied Hardware event. John Bardarson of Brandon topped the third event with Kevin MacDonald and Larry Bjornson among runners up. Forty entries competed and a banquet plus calcutta were held Friday night at the Legion Hall.

Nomination forms are available for District Member positions in the Manitoba Cattle Producers Association. Ted Eastley announces forms at Agricultural Representative offices or by mail to Box 36 St. Vital. Nominators must be qualified from the district’s registered producers list. Ballots mailed March 7 with return by March 21. District meetings February 3–20 and District 5 meeting February 15 in Carberry. Garth Stouffer appointed Returning Officer.

Rabies Reported in Cypress River Area
A rabies case was confirmed in the Cypress River area after a skunk bit a farm dog. The dog remains in quarantine and is healthy but had prior rabies vaccination. Farmers and residents are advised to monitor pets and animals for signs of rabies.
