The federal election statement ended with the Parliament dissolved as Speaker Roland Michener declared no further existence of the House. The session closed at 5 11 p m after protests from the opposition and Lester Pearson demanding by what right.
Last Wednesday evening January 29 the Stockton Eager Needlers 4 H Sewing Club hosted an Amateur Contest with more than twenty contestants. Judges were Mrs J H Scott Mrs Jas Diehl and Henry Janzen Patricia Dodds and Olivia Jefferies led the field with songs impersonations and performances Rev J Maxwell played bagpipes Rob Roy selections. Winners by popular vote were Patricia Dodds and Gerald Rutherford as John and Marsha first. John and Roddie McKay second with violin and guitar. Eric and Mary Ellen Rawlings third with a vocal duet. Mary Ellen celebrated her fourth birthday on Saturday. In the talent class John and Saiero won top prize Hand and Tedith Steer won best vocal duet with guitar. The Sewing Club praised the strong turnout and church attendance.

President Skip Arason Duncan McKay Reg Rawlings and G M Smith made an inter club visit to the Souris club on Monday night. The Arthritis and Rheumatism Society will conduct their first Clinic here on February 7. The club will meet in the United Church basement next Friday for the regular weekly dinner meeting.
Next Sunday evening after the service a United Church film The Split Level Family will be shown. The event follows a successful Youth Service in the church auditorium led by youth groups with an inspiring address by Freddie Wayte. A large crowd stayed for the Fireside discussion after.
Forty four rinks competed in the Wawanesa bonspiel. Milt Budd's rink led by Stan Oleson George Wallis and Ken Dowd took the Merchants' Event and Grand Aggregate honors but lost to M Seafoot of Nesbitt in the Grand Challenge. Seafoot then won the event.

Noble Graham marked his 91st birthday on Tuesday February 4 honoring a pioneer life before the railroad and years of hardship. The Glenboro area resident, born into an 11 child family, recalls days of poverty and notes six siblings are over 80. He and wife Mrs Graham look forward to returning home and will soon celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary.
