Local notes list residents visiting Winnipeg and Swan Lake, travels to Wynyard and Kandahar, and lectures by Rev. Edward Lee with lantern views. The Midwinter Slaughter Sale at SIGMAR Bros. & Co. runs until Feb 10. Also reported are grain price rises near 1.50, a Vancouver death, church events, and a new wheat freight-rate policy for letters to Canadian troops abroad.
A meeting of school trustees for South Cypress Victoria and South Norfolk will be held in the Holland School on Friday February 12 at 1 30 pm. Mr Chas Newcombe Superintendent of Education will give an address with a representative of the Provincial Trustees Association and Mr W K Ross to speak. Educational matters of general interest will be discussed. We have published a pamphlet on Barred Plymouth Rocks for Mrs A Cooper Treesbank who is active in poultry and known across the Canadian West as a top authority.
Tas Fairburn will supply milk to residents with twice daily delivery. Orders may be placed at the Bakeshop for home delivery and fresh dairy items.
The Ladies' Auxiliary records total receipts of 407.05 dollars with Tea and stamps cataloged. Members Mrs McDonald and Miss Barr and Miss Arason helped with stamps and serving. Last week items sent to Winnipeg headquarters include 16 nightshirts 14 pair socks 27 pair wristlets 3 scarfs 6 pair mittens 2 helmets 1 pair kneecaps and 1 comforter.
The Ladies Auxiliary will meet for business and work at the home of Mrs A L Snyder on Tuesday evening February 6 at 7 15 PM.
