February is Heart Month and local volunteers in the Glenboro area will canvass residents. Campaign chairman Brown Andrews leads the effort with calls to give from the heart for the heart. Rural residents are asked to watch mailboxes for campaign envelopes and call 827-2528 for more information.
Park officials report strong winter usage at Spruce Woods Park with higher attendance in activity areas than last year. Toboggan hill ski and snowmobile trails curling and skating facilities are described as excellent and vandalism has not recurred since the December 1988 incident.
Jim Westwood hospital administrator says no definite replacement yet for Doctor Soles as February ends. If no full time doctor is hired, a part time cover will come in twice a week until a full time replacement is secured.
Glenboro hosts its annual Ladies Bonspiel with 25 rinks, Susan Bomak skipping the winning rink to take the main event. The team also claimed Wallis Agencies trophies and prizes, plus a berth in the Lady Sahara Bonspiel in November and John Thompson Memorial Trophy honors.
Mel Logan of Carroll captured the Main Event in the first half after 28 rinks entered the bonspiel. He defeated Larry Gilchrist of Melita as the game stood 1-1 after six ends. Second and third events crowned Rob Ramage and Bert Peaslee with others listed, ahead of the second half this weekend.

Glen Thornborough of Glenboro earns a Manitoba AAA Hockey League All Star nod as part of the Western Division lineup in a 9 7 win over the East at Notre Dame arena Winnipeg Saturday. Scouts from multiple leagues observed the showcase including the NHL and American colleges.
