Hawkins Hustlers Annual Report and Meetings

The Hawkins Hustlers held its annual meeting at Mrs. Harvey Hamilton's home on December 7 with an average attendance of 10 across nine 1950 meetings. A $5 donation was sent to the Red Cross, and a cash balance of $13.33 remained. Officers for 1951 were elected including Pres Mrs 8 Dodds and Treas Mrs A Carruthers.

Santa visits delight Glenboro children this Christmas

Letter to the Editor praises the Glenboro Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring Santa Claus visits. The recent Saturday event featured floats and candy and gave children a chance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas.

The Annual Meeting of St Stephen's Anglican W.A. was held at Mrs. N. McKellar's home on December 6. Officers elected include Honorary President Mrs C L Morgan of Holland, President Mrs A Wilton, Vice-President Mrs L E Patterson, Secretary Mrs L Witherspoon, Treasurer Mrs G Bridle, Dorcas Secretary Mrs L Moore, Educational Secretary Mrs L Patterson, Little Helpers Sec Miss L Rowland, Living Message and Thank Offering Mrs G Bridle. Afternoon meetings planned.

Brandon Skaters Present Ice Show and Hockey Night

The Brandon Skating Club stages Fancy Skating and Comedy Acts at the Glenboro Arena on Friday December 1 with a Glenboro Jr. B versus Holland hockey game to follow. A dance with Modern and Old Time music caps the evening in the FOOF Hall.

Santa Claus Day a Big Success in Glenboro

Santa arrived in Glenboro on Saturday in a calm, gentlemanly style. A quiet procession of decorated cars trucks and floats presented him to happy children and grateful adults. The event was organized by the Glenboro Chamber of Commerce local businesses and school staff and students. Plans already form for an even bigger show next year with more volunteers.

Christmas Bazaars and Community Events Highlight St Stephen’s

The Women's Auxiliary held a successful Dec 2 bazaar netting 150 dollars. Visitors from Winnipeg joined local gatherings as the Chamber of Commerce hosted a Dec 6 Reversion Dance with prizes and Royal Canadians music supporting Glenboro Memorial Hospital.

Village council allows late store hours in December

By resolution the Glenboro Council declares stores may stay open until 10 PM each evening from December 18 to December 22, excluding Thursdays. The measure applies to all local merchants during the stated dates.

Lady Curlers Elect New Officers At Annual Meeting

Mrs. Russell Torgerson was elected president of the Ladies Curling Club at the December 4 annual meeting in the Rink Club rooms. Other officers include Vice President Mrs. L. Haskett, Secretary Laura Johnson, Treasurer Eunice McKinnon, Ice and Draw Committee members, and Social Committee led by Mrs. L. Patterson, Mrs. A. Johnson, Mr M. E. Cline, Mrs. D. McKay, and Mrs. A. Pennycook. Eleven rinks have entered this season.
