Kiwanis guests report on Gimli camp and May talk set

Christine Ewart and Gale McLeod spoke about the Gimli Leadership Training Camp from the Easter holidays at a Kiwanis meeting. Ernie Ellis will address the gathering on Rural Development on Friday May 6th. Poor attendance marked the Glenboro church film night and the area saw a late winter snowfall with four to six inches.

Cypress River Sympathy Grief Borne by Cypress River Community

Community notes express condolences to Mr. and Mrs. Dave Kinsley of Winnipeg on the death of Mrs. Kinsley at 92, laid to rest in Glencoe. Nordman family sympathy shared and local residents attended the funeral and sent thanks for meals. Obituary of Oli Arnson 84 in Glenboro area

The community mourns Oli Arnson 84 who died April 20 at Glenboro Memorial Hospital. Funeral was Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Glenboro Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. James McKay. Interment in Glenboro cemetery. Arnson, a Grand district native, served as school trustee for 20 years, church treasurer 25 years, and long-time director of Glenboro Pool Elevator. He married Olga Frederickson in 1912. their 50th anniversary was in 1962. He leaves Olga, son Skapti, daughter Esther, four grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters, and other relatives.

Division reviews Tiger Hills school plan amid provincial changes

Divisional Trustee Ward 5 reports Dr. Johnson and the building and projects committee rejected the Tiger Hills project due to dwindling enrollment and new regional tech schools. A boundaries commission will study division boundaries and school placements, possibly visiting Tiger Hills next month. The Board supports wait and see but aims to adapt to Manitoba education reforms.

Salihquale notes a large crew of hydro workers in Glenboro. The dering young men arrived in 1927 to install taller poles meeting demand for electric power. The six week project will keep the workforce in town for about that duration.

Jim Stevenson Named Census Commissioner

Jas W Stevenson of Holland Manitoba has been appointed local Commissioner for the Census of Population and Farm Census set to begin June 1 1968 across Canada. He will administer Lisgar 604 district with 18 sub districts and 18 census takers. Volunteers may contact his Holland office to join efforts and every home will be visited to answer five population questions and more on farms plus business establishment data to build a Merchandising master list. Cooperation is urged as census rounds aid public and private planning and benefit all in the long run.
