Ewert Dies From Glenboro House Fire At 219 Broadway
Glenboro man Wes Ewert age 79 died after suffering extensive burns from a house fire that gutted his home at 219 Broadway. Fire crews were called at 9 15 a m April 22 and he died in hospital April 23. Funeral service set for April 27 at Glenboro United Church. Fire Commissioner probes cause, believed to start in the propane furnace.

Wawanesa Considers Centra Gas Expansion to Homes
The Village of Wawanesa heard a Centra Gas expansion proposal on April 21 with officials outlining natural gas heat and safety measures. No costs were discussed but a 60 percent residential and 50 percent business uptake target was mentioned. Mayor Dean Boyd said the council will draft a letter of intent and meet again May 9 to decide next steps. Centra Gas aims to deliver gas to the area by 1995.

Winnipeg illusionist James Grant performed in Glenboro during the April 20 23 merchants promotion. About 50 children attended the Gaiety Theatre matinee on April 23 where Grant wowed with rope ring silk hankie and guillotine tricks and invited audience participation.
