The Tiger Hills School Division announced meal expense reimbursements for staff and trustees will end May 1 1994. Three trustee committees will be reduced to three members policy manual and curriculum and two members for workplace safety and health starting July 1 1994. Remaining committees stay unchanged.
The Tiger Hills School Division trustees authorize 10 days unpaid leave for staff development and PTA days while keeping 189 instruction days. Route 42 to Belmont is eliminated with Route 7 serving both routes. A home economics lab will repurpose the Pilot Mound electronics trailer with upgrades and a Holland School addition planned in Treherne. The Glenora property sells for $1 to the RM of Argyle with net proceeds to the Building Reserve. Evelyn Jones resigns effective June 30 1994. Regular board meetings shift to 8 p.m. from April 26 to November 1 1994.
Glenboro artist Peter Sawatzky has carved 18 basswood pieces since January for Ducks Unlimited at Oak Hammock Marsh and Manitoba Children’s Museum in Winnipeg. The 4 birds include extinct or endangered species and 14 life like animals range from a wasp to a bear cub, lynx, and fawn. He works night and day aiming to finish by April 20 and hopes to bronze some pieces later.
Dr. Perry Hurton of Glenboro retires after 42 years in practice. He cites mounting health issues and shifts in dentistry from prewar training to modern methods, saying he will not renew his license after the February 28 1994 expiry. He treated patients from Glenboro and surrounding towns and even across borders.
