The Manitoba Cattle Producers Association asks its about 15 000 members to review the government's income support program for beef, says president Larry Clifford. Manitoba Pool Elevators directors approve a 10000 grant to the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba for agronomy applied research in the Plant Science Department. The pool has funded $250000 in agricultural grants since 1968 and donated $100000 in 1979 for library and sports facilities. The organization also supports bursaries of 2000 yearly for diploma students.
Jim Diehl heads the Glenboro Agricultural Society as President with Ivan Jefferies as Vice-President and Verna Mowat as Secretary. Marie Jackson previously handled both secretary and treasurer roles. Joyce Wilton serves as Treasurer. The Glenboro Fair is planned for July 6 and 7 with an evening gymkhana and further details to follow as plans finalize.
Glenboro Kinettes presented 500 at the Easter Tea to Hospital Administrator Jim Westwood and Board Chairman Dr. Perry Horton to aid the purchase of a defibrillator. Westwood said the device was bought about a month ago through staff and Health Auxiliary donations.
Hog producers enrolled in the Manitoba plan will receive a 3.00 per cwt. April 1982 payment covering first quarter marketings. The plan supports price to 93 percent of production cost with a 70.36 cwt. support price versus a 67.36 index. payment up to 1250 head and issued by mid-April by the Manitoba Hog Producers Marketing Board.
Education Highlights notes the midget volleyball team will play in the Manitoba Midget playdowns in Morris this weekend then the Western Canada Midget Championships in Winnipeg April 30 May 1 2. Players include Bund Haslen Haslen Barr Shackel Nowazek Jewsbury McKinnon Barr Wertz. Fundraising includes a bottle drive April 19 car wash April 24 and a work-a-thon with phone contact 827-2229.
