Gilgandra War Memorial Literary Institute minutes show Finance and Social Committees tasked to list non subscribers. Discussion covered glass front display in main street, book display cases, seating, lighting upgrades, fence painting, and library funding, with multiple committee reports and officer changes.
Gilgandra Golf Club committee met at the Memorial Institute to review finances for the annual tournament. Receipts were £26 4s 4d with expenses £9 14s 0d, yielding £18 6s 6d profit. Associates’ tournament netted £7 with a credit balance of £49 0s 6d and about £10 in outstanding accounts. A letter of appreciation will be sent to collaborators, and a Radiola Cup challenge proposed against Gular cambone club for September 29 with plans for a return match at Mendooran.
Charlie Rankmore from Warren is recovering at Gilgandra Hospital. Theo Meers, ill in Randwick Hospital, has undergone kidney surgery and is improving. The annual Catholic bell event at the CWA Hall is set for Friday night the 20th after a rain postponement. the Royal Orchestra from Dubbo will provide music.

Shirley Temple appears in Our Little Girl with Warmer Baxter in Hell in the Heaven as another attraction. Rainfall totals listed from the post office indicate a weekly total of 199 points.
A public meeting in Eumungerie hall elected officers for the Dubbo District Ambulance sub committee. G Thompson was re elected president, A McLennan secretary treasurer, E A Hewitt vice president, with H Perkins J Griffith J Wheaton and Mrs C A Wood on the committee. The group adopted the annual report and heard Supt Dolan outline ambulance activities and funding needs. The Eumangerie Football Club donated 10/6 to assist the new wagon and Dolan gave a first aid lecture.
District cricket clubs met at the Memorial Institute to form the second grade district competition starting October 20. Officers were elected with McKellar as president and F Smith as secretary treasurer. Points for outcomes were fixed, affiliation set at 2 shillings 6 pence, and Batting average honors went to A McKellar. Delegates discussed boot sprigs and agreed to advise clubs against their use. Players Krohn Tibbits Campbell declined to compete as protest against stroke play dominated. Caldwell led morning scoring with 80 plus rounds while Munro and others posted higher scores in afternoon. Handicaps list shows multiple players and results across grades and 72 hole handicap.
At Friday’s Guvendrashire Council meeting Alehin represented Balladoran residents asking for help to improve land set aside by the Land Department for a recreation area. The council agreed to supply materials for a four wire fence while Balladoran to erect it, with the shire engineer noting no undertaking without broader consultation.

The C W A masquerade ball in Lithimat drew social and financial success with a lively mask dance won by Mrs H L Johnstone in the ladies’ prize and Jack Alphrist taking the gent’s prize. The Lorna Lance orchestra pleased attendees and a well set supper and floral tables honored guests. The Younger Set American tournament was postponed to Saturday the 27th due to weather, with a dance planned for the hall that night.
