Gypsum as a Fertiliser and Its Limited Use
Gypsum does not serve as a fertiliser but corrects drawbacks of heavy or sour soils, mainly in irrigation areas. Expecting gypsum to match caper benefits will disappoint farmers. Superphosphate contains much gypsum-like sulphate of lime, reducing need for extra gypsum in wheat under normal conditions, though onions or low-lying cultivation areas may warrant gypsum use.
