Gilgandra Light Horse Troop Triumphs At Parkes Camp

Gilgandra Light Horse Troop returned from Parkes camp and arrived at 1 pm after departing at 4:40 am. They finished third in the Prince of Wales Competition with a near miss due to a hotchkiss gun casing. the sword charge drew praise from Col. Barion and Major Hilless. The troop won jumping and tug of war in sports, with Corporal A McKellar praised for turnout and McLennan praised for fighting in a hard bout. The Governor and officers observed events, with Parkes police mounts drawn from the horses of Troop members. The troop leader expressed thanks on their return for the exemplary conduct in camp.

Litter of Puppies Bred by Mr Walters At Orange

Mr F Walters of Orange bred a fine litter by Cash Win Mice Gooser. The litter has 10 puppies aged 17 months, with five running and named dogs Rita Cash J Roach Gugandra native Crete entries: four mst, three atonnas, ule third. Lady Gunner with four seconds and one third. Mio h Wet with three firsts three seconds two thirds. Cash Gun with one five and two seconds across three starts.

Meeting set to inspect course after rain delay

The committee planned a visit to the course but noted no action until after rainfall. The secretary was told to convene the meeting when suitable and Mr Campbell requested a costed list of the clubs plant for presentation at the next meeting.

Dubbo A grade claim pennant over Gilgandra in season finale

Dubbo A grade bowlers visited Gilgandra last Sunday and defeated them easily on the local greens. It was the final pennant match of the season with Gilgandra proud after a strong season, while Dubbo secured the pennants. club president R. J. Nelson and visitor spokesman Mr. Astley praised the season and urged continued good sportsmanship.

Man Falls 35 Feet From Bridge At Dubbo

H T Jones of Bishop Street Dubbo fell 33 feet from the Coalscene Creek bridge while sleepers were being laid. He trapped through decking and plunged to ground suffering scalp wounds a fractured left forearm a fractured right arm and shock. Ambulance took him to District Hospital.

Catholic Tennis Club Gilgandra Holds General Meeting

The Rev Father Eviston presided at the Gilgandra Catholic Tennis Club meeting in the Memorial Institute. Attendees included D Fenton J Graham T Creenault K Jones N Noonan and others. opening day set for March 27 with a fixed doubles American tournament planned and membership set at 15 men and 4 women.

Debt Collector Appointed by Hospital Board

Gilgandra District Hospital will have outstanding accounts reviewed by the Finance Committee then handed to a debt collector for those able to pay. At Tuesday's Board meeting the move was approved to place such accounts with Mr Mudie on a percentage basis, with potential use of an outside collector if needed.

Stevens-Bruxner Government Tackles 1932 Crisis

Facing a £14 million deficit and £18.6 million in Treasury commitments, the Stevens-Bruxner government began rehabilitation in 1932. The Rural and Government Savings Banks were closed, unemployment rose, and social services lapsed under a Labour administration.
