First Meeting of Gilgandis F and A Association Committee

A well attended session at the Memorial Institute covered the new committee’s start. President Mr Stanley welcomed members, including J Christie and many others, and secretarial duties were settled with Mr Christie reelected unanimously. Plans for show dates August 1 to 12, a show ball, tree planting, and the horses stalls covering were discussed amid financial cautions and a noted need for water well improvements.

Mendooran Race Committee Plans April Show

The Mendooran committee approves upgrades to the course a new concrete grandstand and booths. Several horses train locally including Brayhawk Forte Cap Leafstock Captain Blood and Taloonabah with trainers Yed Smellie and Brennan.

Gilgandra Rovers Club Eyes Group KV Affiliation

Gilgandra Rovers Football Club held its annual meeting at the Memorial Institute with strong attendance of players. The club planned to affiliate with Group KV while debating local boundaries and future selection areas, reported a financial summary showing receipts of £50 13s 6d and expenses of £45 11s 8d, leaving a credit balance of £5 1s 10d.

Gilgandra Show Set For August 11 and 12

The Gilgandra P and A Association fixes the annual Show for Tuesday and Wednesday August 11 and 12. The committee plans to revise the exhibit schedule promptly to allow ample preparation time. Residents are urged to patronize sections and support a record turnout. An endheater and hall will be booked for the ball on Show night two.

Gulganden Tennis Club holds annual meeting and honors Alf Weston

The Gulganden Tennis Club discussed team colors and a 9 shilling membership fee, with players to be financial by May 1. A motion to affiliate with Group XV was approved after considering venues for Johnnie Walker Cup players. The meeting also praised former secretary Alf Weston for years of service and announced a commemorative tribute and farewell gifts.

Mendooran Mechanics Institute Opens New Hall and Activities

Mr F G Jones secured a ten year loan to finish the new hall with a picture show and dances planned. Mrs and Mrs Artis return from Burraga while Mr N Robson resumes duties in Tamworth. Sheep sale at Homebush sees 24 400 lambs offered with rates about 1 shilling higher. draft ewe and ram from W Clarke realises 20s 5d.

United Country Party Delegates Meet at Coonamble

The annual United Country Party delegates meeting for New South Wales convened in St Patrick's Hall Coonamble on Thursday February 27 starting 11 30 a m with President F Firth presiding. Attendees included Gordon Christie secretary and E G C Johnstone organiser Western Division plus delegates from Coonamble Granies Warren and other branches.

Motions approved cover amplifier engagement authority Barretts radio stand space for Gurling pavilion space, invitation of Mr Whitley to open the show, service improvements on Bunniulia Street lines, and approval of the Treasurer's year financials with a strong balance and praise for the Secretary and election outcomes.
