On Sunday Gilgandra 1.0.0.F hosted Carroll's club and won by 11 sets to 14. Mixed doubles featured Whitton and Williams defeating O'Brien and Alderman, with other close results across men and ladies doubles and singles as listed. Carroll's team trailed with several 6/6 and 6/4 scores, finishing 14 sets to 11 for Gilgandra.

Freights Cut Aid to Pastoralists

The Government will immediately cut freights by 10 percent for wool and livestock, saving around £190,000 yearly for rural producers. A broader reduction across freights and fares is under consideration, possibly as an across the board percentage cut or targeted adjustments. If a 10 percent cut is applied nationwide, railway revenue would drop by roughly £1.6 million.

Freight on Sheep Skins Now Taxed Same as Wool

The Minister for Transport Col M F Bruxner says sheep skins forming part of a wool consignment will be charged at the same rate as wool if the total weight of wool and skins is at least one ton. Special wool carriage rules will not apply to skins. The Grazers Association also pressed for lower interest rates. In other news, Dr Bradfield claims the Harbour Bridge should be efficient in 200 years, and R B Bootle of Garllage Nar mine suffered a broken wrist from a fall. he is reported to be recovering.
