An enthusiastic Gilgandra P and A Association meeting at Memorial Institute outlined preparations for the 27th Show on August 16–17. A Night Out At Chelmsford Hall Joyful Fancy Dress Event
A bright crowd attended a fancy dress juvenile night at Chelmsford Hall on Friday, boosting Church of England funds. Prizes honored Moat Comical Pairs Charles Wood and Jennifer Hunter and several best costumes across age groups. Supper provided by ladies. organizers McCarthy Dignam and Koldhardt praised for effort. Dense fog causes collision with horses on Gilgandra bridge
In dense fog on Wednesday morning a car on the Dubbo Road near Gilgandra collided with a herd of 19 horses being moved from Dubbo to Gulargambone. One horse was badly injured and the car suffered major damage. the occupants were uninjured. The driver was Bernie Rittmesster, with his brother J R Rittmesster, returning from Gilgundra. The horses were under F Morton from Mannington’s Dubbo property. Police, including Sergeant Taylor, investigated the scene after the 8:30 am crash amid near zero visibility.

Tooraweenah Show Committee Plans Changes and Plantings
The Tooraweenah P A and H Association meeting presided by Mr TV Estens approved a near complete change of judges for the annual show and scheduled a July 30 working bee to plant pepper trees. Enoch and committee members agreed to care for one tree each as part of improving the grounds. The booth rights were left to the secretary, and show schedules for August 31 were reviewed with favorable comment.

Bullet in Head Solves Coonabarabran Mystery
A bullet recovered from the head of George Allan Sateed, 28, of Coonabarabran, died Friday in Sydney, is expected to identify a killer. Ballistic tests will compare the 22 caliber bullet with a rifle found in Sateed's room at Wattle Spring, Bassett estate, as detectives pursue the puzzling case. A large crowd attended a dance at the Australian Hall on Tuesday night raising funds for the Far West Children's Health Scheme. Door takings reached £24 with anticipated clearance of about £20. tickets were 6d for gentlemen and 2d for ladies. Music by Mrs. Gibsons Orchestra and extras by Mrs. Coldwell and Mr. Anders. A buffet supper delighted attendees and novelty dances, framed by trophies donated by town merchants, added to the merriment.
