On July 6 Coonsbarabran Public School hosted Gilgandra Public for tennis on Railway Courts and a football match at the Show Ground. Gilgandra won tennis 129 sets 78 games to 78, while Coonsbarabran won football 15 to 8. The day featured mixed doubles and girls doubles with strong Show Ground crowd support.

Destructive blaze at Dunedoo hits hotel and shops
A fire at 2 am Saturday in Dunedoo caused £15000 damage in Waters Royal Hotel and five shops. Strong winds fanned flames, injuring occupants who fled in night attire.
