Gilgandra Defeats North Dubbo 14 to 3 in Cup Match

Gilgandra defended the Football Challenge Cup as North Dubbo traveled to win back the trophy. After a dull start Gilgandra led 8-3 at halftime and extended to 14-3 with two McKenzie tries. Referee Mr. Tt. Ryan oversaw a respectful game with tributes to late club treasurer T. O'Neill.

Gilgandra CWA Branch Notes August Meeting Actions

The Gilgandra branch of the Country Women’s Association met in the Rest Room last Saturday with Mrs Townsend chairing. Delegates were chosen for 1940, catering for the Diggers Ball approved, and a conference to Dubbo in September planned. A Masonice Ball catering thanks, Country Woman report read, and a bridge afternoon produced prizes for Mrs Gilson and Mrs Creenune.

Man Charged With Dangerous Driving In Lower Miller Street Accident

William McGrath appeared at Gilgan dra Police Court on Monday charged with driving a motor car in a manner dangerous to the public and failing to produce a driver’s license when required. He pleaded guilty to the two counts and was fined 10 on each. The second charge was withdrawn.

The June Gilpandia Women's Hospital Auxiliary meeting at District Hospital chaired by Mrs Townsend approved treasurer’s report, thanked Mr Hearn for carting services, and considered dances and raffles to raise funds. On Sunday last Dubbo marksmen visited Gilgandra for a friendly inter-club match. Dubbo won by 21 points amid fair shooting weather with a front fish tail wind. KE.
