Railway defeated Collie by 299 to 101 as H Williams scored 102 for the visitors in a Sunday friendly. J Williams took five for 27 for Collie while P Murray led the home side with 24 despite the collapse.

Dr. G Moncreiff Barron declared the Far West Children's Health Scheme will continue despite revenue losses from the war era. The annual meeting at Far West Children's Home in Manly reviewed work by regional conferences, noted a reduced Christmas camp, and praised volunteers and staff. The scheme added three trebly trained sisters and cut overdraft by £1000, with 138 daily Sydney patients treated and education department rooms erected at the Home.
Ex local performer Fiddler won the Second Division of the Flying Handicap at Victoria Park yesterday. He started at odds of 8 to 1.
Fire destroyed a cottage and shed owned by Mr W. Luckie at Mendoorun. The cause is unknown. The empty dwelling had been used by travellers. Mr Luckie was present around 6 30 pm. by 0 00 the halixe was well alight. A large crowd arrived but could not stop the blaze from spreading to nearby properties. Insurance is thought to be in place.
