Obituary for Annie Walden a long-time Dubbo resident
Mrs Annie Walden of Dubbo district and Gilgandra died just before her 86th birthday after carnival week. Born in Helston England in 1840s, she married William Walden, pioneer coachman for Cob and Co. Her family included F W Walden Nabiac and H J Walden Boxley among others. Her body was laid to rest in Gilgandra beside her late husband after a funeral service conducted by Rev Wenston Jones.

FATAL ACCIDENT AT MENDOORAN SILOS CLAIMS MAURICE CALLAGHAN
Maurice Callaghan aged 23 died after falling 65 feet from a construction silo at Mendooran. He slipped while working atop the silo and fell onto the railway line. He was taken to Woal Hospital where he died shortly after. Callaghan was a well known footballer and had recently travelled to Sydney for country football. He is buried in Coonthambran Cemetery with his widow and family left in mourning.

The hall was at capacity and funds rose with about £70 paid at the door. Misses Mc William and Fonney organized, music by Mrs Armstrong's orchestra pleased, and an excellent supper was served by the girls.

Robbery and Safe Burglary at Gulargambone Stores
Thieves forced the front door of Lemon Bros general store at Gulargambone on Christmas Eve, moved a heavy safe to the Castlereagh River bed, blew it open and stole £7 while ledgers were recovered. An attempted safe burst at the Gulargambone Hotel failed. Police, including Detective Frankish, later arrested two men and found equipment and stolen goods with multiple housebreaking suspicions.
