Rail Excursions To And From Sydney Announced

A broad program of December Ux redistions is followed by more excursion trains toward month end enabling distant state residents to visit the city and seaside for holidays. Anniversary Day falls on Monday February with races at Randwick and the harbour regatta. Return tickets to Sydney and intermediate stations available at single fare with break-in journey privileges and sleeping berths on some trains.

Gilgandra Native Wins Five Thousand Pound Lottery Prize

J Collison of Parkes a railway worker and brother of Albert Collison of Myrtle Street Gilgandra won the first prize of £5000 in the New South Wales State Lottery drawn in Sydney on Tuesday.

Balladoran CWA Annual Meeting and Members’ Farewells

The Balladoran CWA branch held its annual meeting on a Wednesday in December, reporting a balance of over £60 and £40 spent on cood works. Presentations were made to two departing members Mrs Edwards and Mrs Scott, with gifts and a crystal vase for Miss Sheila Stott. Officers were elected: President Mrs Johnstone, Treasurer Mrs Anderson, Secretary Mrs Willint, Assistant Secretary Mrs Fr N Craig, VPs Mrs Tawee, Mrs Reichell, Mrs Stockings, Mrs Wilrem. The branch also hosted a Juvenile dance on December 19 with about ninety children, Santa gifts, free ice cream and cake, and musical entertainment by local performers.

Red Cross Society New Year Eve Ball Held in Australian Hall

A lively Red Cross New Year Eve function occurred last Thursday in the Australian Hall. Despite rain causing a damp floor, dancers persevered as Mrs Grih orchestra provided music alongside soloists Miss T Finch and Miss J Connell with others. Organizer Mrs Varese and helpers were praised, with profits expected to exceed £30 and thanks extended to all assisting gentlemen.
