Aged 95 Years Pioneer Granny Emily Beasey Dies in Dubbo

A 95 year old Dubbo resident known as Granny Emily Beasey died Friday night. One of the town’s longtime pioneers she helped traverse the Blue Mountains in a five horse dray nearly a century ago. She was born in Windsor, married in the West, and lived most of her life around Dubbo. Survived by three sons Tom Walter Alfred Beasley and daughters Medomea Lyons Balderson. A great great grandmother, funeral held Saturday at the Church of England section of Dubbo cemetery after service at Holy Trinity Church with Rev C W Leavers officiating.

Car overturns near Dubbo. three youths escape serious injury

A car traveling from Gulargambone to Dubbo overturned about 14 miles from Dubbo on Monday afternoon. Driver Jack Skinner suffered abrasions and was treated by the Dubbo ambulance. Harold Murphy, 18, of Gulargambone, sustained head injuries and facial abrasions and was taken to Dubbo District Hospital. D A Cey Ewers also received ambulance treatment for abrasions.

Wedding Bells for Tomlinson and Waverh in Gilgandra

The December 26 wedding of Mrs Nita Tomlinson and Mr Lindsay Waverh took place at Gilgandra Methodist Church. The bride wore white moire with pale pink veil and orange blossom, flanked by sisters Nellie and another Tomlinson in pink and ivory. The reception followed at the bride’s home, and the couple will honeymoon in the Mountains before settling in Armidale.
