Stock Owners' Mrr. WF Bunny forwarded a message from Chief Secretary FA Chaltey. The Commissioner of Police reports Mendooran and surrounding districts are orderly with few minor crimes. Investigations show no need for additional officers. current police protection is deemed adequate.
Mr J Clarkie receives notice from Mr J S Duncan Deputy Director Telegraphs proposing increased hours at Collie Telephone Exchange. The plan extends service Monday to Saturday many hours and Sunday opening, with variations on holidays. Continuation depends on postmaster approval or successor. No local body has requested the facility.
A wide series of railway excursions are planned for Christmas and New Year holidays. Local school holidays offer three tours to Sydney and Marlone, with further trips statewide from December 18 for two weeks. Tickets and details will be available from December onward at major NSW stations.
A Gilgandra Shire deputation met Mr Spooner on Monday to press State aid for completing a storm water channel at Morris and Wrinley Streets. They requested a loan of £48,000 for concrete channel and £2,000 for labour plus £2,000 for kerbing and guttering, arguing the route is economical and essential to drain and protect the area.
