Lucky Escape During Welding at McClure's Garage

Mr. Doug McClure of McClure's Garage escaped serious injury when a petrol tank he was repairing exploded under a welding torch. He had emptied the tank, flushed it with water, and ran water through it for an hour before welding. The tank blew apart as the second end was being worked on, but he avoided severe harm with only minor scratches and singed hair.

Busy bridge programme ahead for Gilgandra council

Gilgandra Shire Engineer J N Hunter will supervise two to three bridge works over the coming year. A Marthaguy Creek bridge on the Gilgandra Dubbo Road is under let and due for completion before winter. Tender calls for Ebberah Bridge on the same road will replace a long derelict structure. A Breelong Creek bridge on the Gilgandra Mendoran Road is expected in February, with council funding its share.
