Gilgandra marksmen defeated by Warren in Gilmen Cup match

Gilgandra shooters visited Warren on Sunday to contest the Gilmen Cup in a two man team event. A light wind kept scores down with seven shots and two men allowed per distance. J Ross and J Wars each shot 34 at 600 yards while A Saunders and G McClure posted 34 at 400. The aggregate winner was W Kennedy with 66 points. Others scoring included Kennedy Saunders Wilde George Lynch Giddens Waes 60.

Catholic Cricket Club Forms in Gilgandra Area

W Boardman chaired the first monthly meeting of the Catholic Cricket Club at the Memorial Institute. The group outlined initial equipment needs, discussed ground access with the Railway Recreation Ground, planned one or two teams, and set a budget of £16 for gear. A blazer design was chosen pending samples, with a monogram to be added. fund raising paused until after Back to Gilgandra Week.

Subscribers and intending sub scribers are invited to view a new showcase at Glovers Store premises for books added to the library. Pioneer Passes John Atkins in Timedoo District

John Atkins 84 died at Gul gong District Hospital. He served as juryman in Beni and Dubbo districts and moved to Dunedoo 42 years ago living at Tuckland until death. Survived by widow and ten children. Funeral at Church of England Timedoo cemetery with Rev Douglas officiating. many traveled long distance and flowers sent.
