Busy town hosts annual race meeting with Theobald's Orchestra for the race ball and CWA catering. Nominations for M.A.T.C. races rise, while social plans, Red Cross drive, and autumn shearing progress accompany local notices and upcoming euchre and hockey activities.
Record attendance marked the Gilgandra Younger Set of the CWA annual meeting at Memorial Institute. Elected for the year: President Miss I Townsend. Vice-Presidents Mesdames R Lewie L Anderson. Miss M Wheeler. Miss W Elsom. Hon Secretary Miss K Bartley. Hon Treasurer Miss R Peet. Advisory Committee Mesdames H Peet T Markey H Hutton Miss Travis.
A large entry attended the Gilgandra Rifle Club prize shoot on Sunday with good weather aiding the event. J Rees led the field at 600 yards near two shots from the possible 36, while F Brook and C Nalder scored well. A separate Curban range shoot later saw C Marchant top with 84 at 500 yards and 31 at 600, as wind unsettled competitors.
Gilgandra won 65 runs over Narromine after a disrupted journey with a tram trek to Eumungerie. A Jones took five for 48 as Narromine struggled. Dolph Whitton top scored with 40 and Rube Whitton 32 not out. Mr Roe of Eumangerie fell, injuring his shoulder in a fall. best wishes from friends follow.

In Tooraweensh the Progressive Club posts a healthy balance of £98 18s 3d after a year of travel and growth. Secretary R. d. sy and coach Jimmy Jenking lead a youthful squad as they plan a King’s Birthday knock out and a grand ball to boost funds for the coming season.
Wool sale at Colou saw a large offering of 6 884 bales representing late shearings from vets. Southern districts provided many lots with strong demand. Japan supplied useful coarse wools while France and Belgium were less active. Notable clips included Wollomombi and Armidale consignments with top prices around the high d ringgit. sale results showed good pricing and solid competition among buyers.
A C W A branch was formed at Armatree with Mrs R Barden hosting. Officers elected include Seslent Mrs W T Macken J P Vice Presidents Mesdames R Barden J Shanklin C Smith and Mrs Dors Macken Secretary Mrs J Beck Assistant Secretary Mrs Carruthers Treasurer Mrs R Barten. Monthly meetings set for 2 pm on last Saturday each month at Armatree Hall with afternoon tea.
Arrangements for Easter Monday events are complete with a larger entries than before. Axemen will draw crowds as the section expands to about double last year and two extra attractions include standing chop and sleeper events. A horseback ring cutting prize of 10/6 is promised by Mr. Lewis. The procession for children is free to all not participating, starting at Wrigley and Miller streets at noon, with a local band of 19 to 18 members in force. Committees cover Procession, Athletic, Horses, Axemen, Patrol, Tea Tent, and Competition. A dance at Australian Hall features 3/- and 2/- tickets with supper, hosted by Mr. Er'ffa. Arcadians Orchestra provides the music.
Joyce Parslow celebrated her 21st birthday at Cooya the home of Mr and Mrs J Parslow with about forty relatives. A pink and white three tier cake and a golden key topper symbolized majority. Joyce, treasurer of Balladoran C WA Younger Set, was toasted by friends and announced engaged to Mr John Donnt. The evening included dancing cards and games as well as warm wishes and presents.
