Obituary of Herbert Alfred Williams of Dubbo

Herbert Alfred Williams died in Dubbo after a lengthy illness. He was born at Wellington and lived most of his life in Dubbo. Survived by a widow and seven sons Alfred Balladoran Walvhing Wollongong Balladoran Richard Percy Stephen William Reuben. The funeral from the Baptist Church featured a Rev J Rixon service and graveside at Dubbo cemetery. Wreaths included from Baptist Church adherents and Dubbo Milling Company where his sons worked.

Girvanes Rifle Club Elects Officers and Opens Season

At the annual Girvanes Rifle Club meeting officers were elected led by Captain A Kember and Secretary J Wilson. The season menu includes monthly shoots with prizes, handicaps, and coaching, plus a season opening contest where R Lewis led the field with a 70 total at 500 yards and 600 yards.

Curban Rifle Club Opens Season Amid Bad Roads

The Curban Rifle Club started its first season on Sunday with few shooters due to bad roads. The shoot used the 500 and 600 yard ranges with seven shots and two lighter allowances. Conditions were rough with strong crosswinds. Nalder led with 33 at 500 yards and 29 at 600 yards. Sears also scored notably.

Death of R. H. Smith of Homebuck at 68

R H Smith of Homebuck died March 25 at the Nome of the Dying Marrickville aged 68. A Mudgee native, he worked for the Western Australian Bank in youth, later with Alexander Forrest on an inland exploration, managed Danganilly cattle station in Northern Queensland, and ran a successful auctioneering business in Mudgee with George Stewart. He leaves a widow, three sons Rex Stewart Kevin and a daughter Mrs Faunce New Zealand. The funeral included Methodist and Masonic services led by Rev P H Curtis.
