Another Double Win at Dubbo Greyhound Meeting
Ransome Maid set a club record with a consecutive double win at a Dubbo meeting last week. Owned by A Lummis of Gilgandra and leased by Mrs Sid Furness, she won the Flying Stakes at 3/1 by a head and the Macquarie Stakes first division by three-quarters of a length, while White Rocket ran 9str in the Malden Flying Stakes. Gilgandra residents attended in large numbers and praised the night’s outing.

Attempts to hire a cook, laundress and housemaid were unsuccessful. conditions at Molong are described as ideal with modern kitchen and laundry facilities. Matron Sharp recently resigned from Gilgandra District Hospital to take the Molong post.

The Gilgandro Red Cross Society met in the C W A Rooms on Saturday. President Mrs Varcoe welcomed new member Mrs Nicholas and noted attendees including Mrs Alexander and Matron Rendall. Plans included catering for Easter Monday sports, selling bag lunches and tea, and a June 10 dance at Australian Hall with proceeds to Red Cross and Patriotic Fund. Haddon Rig Sheep Classing and Market Activity
The Haddon Rig operation completed the September October 1939 flock classing on March 10 with about 4 900 rams shown by Mal col m McLeod Frank Laird and owner. Since then 2 350 Tamat valued at £17 400 have been delivered and 47 buyers watched purchases while 87 orders were sent after selection. 253 rams remain to be selected by buyers arriving soon. Young ewes classing began March 24 with satisfactory quality. Haddon Big oyes are classed in consecutive years to prevent faults. In NSW elections H V C Thorby urged electors to back experienced government for continuity.
