The Government Astronomer H B Curlewis reports in the Solar report for the week ending September 7 that sunspot groups passed the southern limb, formed large disturbances near the central meridian, then diminished in energy. A shallow disturbance last week round the western edge and two large remnants followed by a modernesized spot show deep activity as they approach the central meridian. The week’s solar activity is described as primarily southern in hemispheric distribution.
