Great Wheat Belt Near Mt Exim and Ballingoo Spring
In candid survey, the Northward belt along the Murchison River is presented as the great wheat country. Four classes of land, from first rate to poorer plots, show possible yields from 16 to 90 bushels per acre with fertiliser, water wells, and irrigation making abundant production feasible. The Mt Exim area, clay-bottom soil, 17 inch rainfall, and long tested crops by the Chapman State Farm show potential 16- to 66 2/3 bushel averages, with broad averages around 16-17 bushels per acre. Local sheep and Dexter-Kerry cattle thrive, wells and springs provide water, and blocks of 50,000 acres are earmarked for subdivision. the belt is hailed as the finest wheat land in the state.
