Referendum Debate on Federal Powers and State Arbitration Court
Senator Nash criticized Mr McLarty’s Geraldton remarks on a Yes vote in the upcoming Federal referendum. He argued Commonwealth power could establish a Commonwealth Court of Arbitration, while the State Arbitration Court would continue regardless of the referendum. He warned against fears about prices and rents and urged voters to consider long term national interests and price controls benefits. He urged a Yes vote on May 29 to sustain prudent economic policy and avoid booms and slumps.
