Railway Commissioner in Mullewa Agrees on Safer Access
During a visit to Mullewa last week Commissioner Col Pope revived talks on improving railway safety and access. He approved moving the main street gate east and building an approach to the station away from engine pits, with no funds for an overpass or subway. A bet on providing either a bridge or subway within six months was joked away as progress. The deputation also sought 10 to 15 acres of the railway water reserve for a recreation area, with the land kept for possible future railway use and lease renewal anticipated.
