A M P Society Report on 1947 Life Insurance Growth
In his Annual Meeting speech Deputy Chairman Sir Frederick Tont outlined that in 1947 the A M P Society arranged for 61,520,000 pounds of new life insurance. About 40 percent of new ordinary department business came from existing policyholders. Nearly one third of new life insurance involved employer contributions toward eventual superannuation. The year saw increases in government and semi government loans and share investments, with bonuses declared at the same rate as 1946. The society paid out over 27,000 pounds daily in benefits, totaling 9,949,000 pounds for the year, and since 1930 has paid war claims amounting to at least 5,100,000 pounds. Investments supported Australia and New Zealand prosperity.
