Ancient clocks and the West Country horologists
A misread transcription recounts interest in medieval timepieces across Dorset Somerset and Wiltshire. It notes Salisbury Wells Cathedral Exe ter Cathentral and St Mary Church clocks, restorations by J J Hall, and mentions Tytherlogton Gloucs and Sherborne Abbey clocks with links to Exeter makers Alex Hawkins and local restorers. The piece reflects on gearwork dates from early centuries, the planetary dial models, and calls for scrutiny of surviving clocks for authenticity.
