Greenough Roads Board Holds January Meeting In 1911

The Greenough Roads Board held its usual monthly meeting at Central Greenough on a Tuesday in January 1911. Present were chairman G E Sewell and members Aue derson Hamersley Somers ey McVartury Reynolds with an apology from Clinch. Actions included approving accounts, responding to correspondence from the Public Works Department and Kalgoorlie local bodies, planning unlicensed dogs and vermin enforcement, and tender arrangements for Walkaway works. The board resolved to apply Part VII of The Roads case to the district and addressed a complaint about insecure fencing near Walkaway yards. The secretary was instructed to arrange Christmas holidays and schedule meetings for January to March 1911, with the next meeting set for May 11, 1911.

A bazaar held Thursday raised 419 shedd in aid of Varivh Hall with elaborate table displays and steady sales. Attendees included Mrs Carson and many others, a photograph was taken after afternoon tea, and a later gathering featured wives of committee members. A Friday night departure of holidaymakers ended the week.
