State School Certificates Abolished and New Leaving System
The Education Department has abolished the old system of issuing certificates after each standard. Now only two certificates will be issued: the Qualifying for VI Standard and the Leaving for VIII Standard. The primary stage ends at VI. After qualifying, pupils proceed to VII and VII with three course options: Commercial, Industrial, or Domestic. The issue includes sample papers for the Commercial course and notes seven local examination participants. concern is raised that many parents pull children from school at fourteen, missing extended commercial or industrial education.
