In a Police Court session led by Mr St Gee Ping Kee faced charges of running a common gaming house at Fitzgerald Street on August 2. Witnesses described a table with slots and drawers known as the kitty for the house keeper, with about 100 in the drawers. Ping Kee claimed he ran the lodging house but did not participate in gambling. The court found the offence proven, imposing a £20 fine and costs with three months in default. The case against the cook, charged as an occupant, was withdrawn.
