Forty five men from Port opened the resleepering project on the Mt Magnet to Sandstone line. Nine-man gangs occupy nine miles apart, each handling four and a half miles each side. A total of 9000 sleepers will be used after reusing 8000 from the manganese line, with work expected to last twelve months and water brought from Yalgoo for the crew under Inspector Wilkie and assistant engineer W B Metcalf.

Accidental Rifle Blast Halts School Teacher in Bush
